Lifeboat Day is an informative and fun event for all ages, with activities, demonstrations, and plenty of opportunities to ask our volunteers questions. This way, you get to know the KNRM even better.

The Groote Markt in Sluis is transformed into an Ibiza paradise, with cool stalls and booths, great music, and everything you need to fully get into the relaxed Ibiza vibe.

Back to the Geuzen era. A very cozy annual village festival with live music throughout the day and evening, food trucks, and a fair for the little ones.

During the Pentecost weekend, on May 23, 24, and 25, 2026, Ostrich Farm Monnikenwerve on Hogeweg in Sluis will traditionally host its Open Weekend. During these festive days, the doors will be open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM; admission and guided tours are free of charge throughout the weekend.

Naturally, the ostriches will be there—currently around 150 in total. From small chicks to impressive breeding animals, everything can be viewed up close. During the guided tours, which take place every hour, visitors will learn all about this originally African flightless bird. The regular guides, Floris and Bouke de Bruijckere, will take you around the farm in their own unique way and introduce you to the world of ostriches.

In the cozy tearoom with a view over the fields, you can enjoy a drink while observing the birds at your leisure. In good weather, there is of course also a terrace available. Even if the sun doesn’t shine, there’s no problem—the birds can also be viewed from the barns, making Monnikenwerve a great place to visit even in rainy weather.

There is ample parking available, and the farm is easily accessible for people with reduced mobility. Dogs are allowed, provided they are kept on a leash.

During this event, the port city of Vlissingen comes to life. Along the boulevard, there are over 400 stalls filled with goods and demonstrations by pitchmen. What makes this event unique is the endless row of stalls and the lively atmosphere.
In addition, there are dance performances, live music, and displays of traditional Zeeland costumes. From the water, a spectacular fireworks display can also be seen.
